Iranian reciter wins 2nd spot in Turkey Int’l Quran Contest

Iran’s Seyyed-Mostafa Hosseini comes 2nd at Turkey’s 5th int’l Quran competition.

Iranian Quran reciter Seyyed-Mostafa Hosseini has grabbed the second ranking at 5th edition of Turkey’s int’l Quran competition.

Hosseini won the second spot, after the representative of Turkey, at the recitation category of the international Quranic event. The representative of Indonesia became the third.

Winners of the memorization category were the representatives of Jordan, Turkey, and Yemen, respectively.

The organizers launched the contest at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul on May 19, 2017.

The competition gathered some 120 Quran reciters and memorizers from more than 60 countries to compete for the top prizes in the two categories.

In the first stage of the recitation contest ten reciters from Tunisia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Yemen, Turkey, Malaysia, Brunei, Pakistan and Iran were selected for the final round.

The jury of the memorization category also announced ten memorizers, including Mostafa Esfahanian from Iran to compete at the final round.

Esfahanian competed with representatives of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Kenya, Kuwait and Jordan in this category.

Winners were announced and awarded during the closing ceremony, in attendance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in Ankara on May 24.

Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) organizes and holds the international Quranic event every year.
